There are many reasons why classical education is considered to be a superior system of education. The philosophy behind it is that all things in the universe, both objects and forces, are bound by gravity. That means that they are also bound by natural laws. That’s not all that they claim to believe in. Besides the above-mentioned law of gravity and other such natural laws, they also believe that all humans on this planet have a similar mind set, and that therefore, they too are bound by natural laws and not constrained by them.
Now coming to why classical education is bad: First, if you ask me, I do not believe that the above-mentioned philosophy is correct. For each of us, our minds are unique. There is no such thing as one type of human being. We all have different temperaments, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. What makes someone a genius does not necessarily make another person a genius.
Therefore, you cannot say: that some people are naturally talented and intelligent than others. What the real question is why classical education is bad. If you put different individuals together, they will both end up as brilliant musicians or great scientists, and neither will necessarily be better at what they choose to do. You see, this whole argument is not based on logic, but on emotion. And this is where most arguments against it fail.
When you study philosophy in college: or if you take a college entrance exam, you will be required to demonstrate your abilities using logic. But this is not the only way to show your capabilities. In fact, most college teachers encourage students to write essays, solve problems, and so on. If this is done correctly, and your parents believe that you have these abilities, then you should definitely be given a chance to study philosophy.
So why classical education is bad? Its curriculum is not applicable to everyone: The reason for this is that philosophy was developed over the past four thousand years ago. Now, it’s an incredibly broad subject, which includes such things as ancient Greek philosophy, Buddhism, Hinduism, and others. If you want to study it, you need to learn the specific philosophies of each of these religions. And there are hundreds of different philosophies.
In other words, if you want to teach your children anything at all: you need to find out what the relevant philosophies are for that age group. Otherwise, you’re teaching them stuff from the Stone Age. In other words, classical education is dead! Give your kids something more effective.
It doesn’t matter what age you are, the important thing is that you teach your children the basics well.
